Intelligent search that runs on your device.
Bring your own Brave Search and Mistral API keys. No Scrykey account. No Scrykey bill.
How it works
-
1
Get two API keys
Sign up with Brave Search and Mistral. Brave includes free monthly credits; Mistral’s small model is cheap enough that typical use costs pennies.
-
2
Paste them into Scrykey
Keys live in the system Keychain on your device. They never touch a Scrykey server — because there isn’t one.
-
3
Search
Queries go directly from your device to the providers you configured. You pay them, not us.
-
Search
Quick, well-cited answers from fresh web results.
-
For & Against
Both sides of any debatable question, side by side.
-
Research
Multi-step deep dives that synthesise dozens of sources.
What it costs
Brave’s free credits cover the index side. Mistral comes to a handful of cents on mistral-small-latest.
Still inside Brave’s $5 free monthly credit for the index side; Mistral is billed in fractions of a cent per query.
Research mode fans out across many queries per run, so deep dives cost more than a basic search — budget a few cents per report.
You pay the providers directly. Current pricing: Brave Search API · Mistral AI
Why Brave and Mistral
Most search apps hand your queries to Google, Bing, or a frontier lab that trains on your data. Scrykey doesn’t.
Brave Search runs its own independent web index — not a front-end for Bing or Google — so queries aren’t funnelled back to the companies Scrykey exists to avoid.
Mistral AI is a European provider with a clearer data-handling stance than most US frontier labs, and its small model is genuinely good at the “read these results, answer with citations” task Scrykey uses it for.
Bring your own keys
No subscription, no middleman. You own the accounts, you own the billing, you own the data relationship with each provider.
On-device only
There is no Scrykey server. Queries and keys never leave your device except to go to the providers you configured.
